Despite its aging design, its gargantuan V8, and outdated tech, the second-generation Nissan Armada remained surprisingly resilient in terms of sales over the past few years. After Ford, General Motors, Stellantis, and Toyota, it's now Nissan's turn to unveil an all-new version of its full-size SUV — and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait.

Nissan's engineers have managed to preserve everything that made the previous Armada successful while modernizing the rest. The result is a seriously competitive full-size SUV. The 2025 Armada boasts an even more muscular and elegant design, a high-end and modern cabin, and cutting-edge powertrain technology. In short, Nissan's largest SUV is at the top of its game — and the competition better be ready.

Lineup and Pricing

This new generation also brings with it a revised price structure. The entry-level SL trim now starts at $87,840 before options. Fortunately, it comes very well equipped with premium finishes and a generous list of standard features. Next in line is the Platinum version at $96,840, followed by the PRO-4X at $97,840 — a variant more focused on off-road driving. The top-tier Platinum Reserve trim starts at $109,408. Captain's chairs are available as an option for an additional $1,200.

Segment and Competition

Nissan remains one of the few non-American automakers bold enough to compete in the full-size SUV segment — a market long dominated by domestic giants. Until now, the Armada struggled to stand out. But the arrival of the new generation changes everything. Bigger, more modern, and packed with tech, the 2025 Armada is suddenly a much more compelling option. This time around, Nissan clearly did its homework.

Rivals: Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Toyota Sequoia

Design and Technology

Nissan has done an excellent job with the 2025 Armada's design. It remains just as imposing as before, but with a far more contemporary and refined look. It's a big vehicle, but the new proportions feel more balanced than in the previous generation. While the customization options are limited, the Armada still offers a nice palette of exterior colors and stylish wheels.

The cabin is where the biggest transformation has taken place. The dashboard is now fully digital, and the center console is smartly laid out. The display is crisp and clear, and the overall ergonomics have been well thought out. The 2025 Nissan Armada is also exceptionally roomy, and its ride comfort ranks among the best in the mainstream full-size SUV class.

Performance

For 2025, Nissan finally ditched the outdated V8 in favor of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. This new engine delivers 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard 4x4. With this new setup, the Armada can tow up to 8,500 pounds — right on par with the segment average. As for fuel efficiency, Nissan claims 14.7 L/100 km in the city and 12.4 L/100 km on the highway for most versions.

Weak Points

The color options are limited, and despite the new engine, fuel consumption remains relatively high.

Strong Points

It's a versatile vehicle that's fun to drive, with impressive off-road capabilities. The 2025 Nissan Armada is spacious, comfortable, and its V6 delivers a smooth and torque-rich power curve.

Signature Element

The Nissan Armada commands respect with its bold, elegant, and assertive design.

Final Word

Few vehicles can truly meet the needs of large families who love adventure — but the Nissan Armada is one of them. It's also a vehicle that makes a statement on the road and never fails to turn heads.
